Single parents are calling for an overhaul of the tax system to force recalcitrant former partners who owe child support to pay up.
Social services groups have joined the chorus, saying tens of thousands of parents have skipped child support payments, with up to $2 billion now outstanding.
They say parents avoid the child support payments by either failing to lodge a tax return, or moving payments through trusts and partnerships.
